Microsoft Game Studios

Art Director, 2002 - 2004

Role

As an art director in the games publishing division I was the liaison between second-party developers and Microsoft making games for PC and Xbox. Using my experience I would work with a developer's art director & team to support their vision and help anticipate, avoid, and solve problems. As I helped them reach their potential I would also make certain Microsoft was getting what they contracted for, reporting back with project status and uncovering any potential surprises to the delivery schedule.

Take-Aways

A supervisory role with only advisory oversight required me to hone my interpersonal skills and abilities to discuss and influence peers.

Also, I believe when possible effort is better spent raising a B+ developer to an A level rather than a C- developer to a C+ level.
